where a wall came down, a continent came together, and history proved that there is no challenge too great for a world that stands as one!
I have to say that I was deeply moved by Obama’s speech during his visit to Germany while in Berlin.
I am not old enough to have seen JFK’s speech live, yet I’ve often heard it. I remember Reagan, when he implored Gorbachevto tear down this wall. I wish I would have been in Berlin today, yet all I was, was being at home, glued to the screen of my tv.
"We cannot afford to be divided. No one nation, no matter how large or
powerful, can defeat such challenges alone. None of us can deny these
threats, or escape responsibility in meeting them," Obama said.
And he is right. He indeed raised the stakes rather high with this speech, it will be the one that he will be measured against, he will be held accountable for this. And I believe he can and will do it, that he stands for what he said.
I’m quite sure that, if Mel and I ever DO decide on kids, this will be in their history books.
What more can I say other than: YES, WE CAN!
Damn, I wish the five years would be up already and I could apply for citizenship. Heck…I wish I’d already HAVE citizenship so I could vote this fall.
