I’ve got sunshine… on a cloudy day

The cold pizza was good, the soccer game sucked though. Tell me again, why do I wake up to something like this??

But let’s not dwell on that, before the shopping, it’s the Museum of Glass here at Tacoma. I’ve been to Venice, Murano more specifically, a number of times when I was a kid. The glass manufacturers have always fascinated me. What I really loved was the process of melting, layering and blowing glass. I just love the colors when the super heated glass comes out of the furnace or the oven, when it slowly cools down, going through all the amber colors while being worked on, the flexible slow fluidity of the molten…well, I wouldn’t really call it liquid…let’s just say I could watch for hours.

Well, the resident artist for the week just happened to be from Murano, and he really knew what he was doing. The museum itself is kind of a let down. It’s rather on the small side, just a few exhibits, almost being dwarved by the gift shop, so…eh. Yeah I would go there again, but…still, they should show more.

The nice thing though…finally, after a rather overcast morning, sun’s coming out, about time, really! Looking forward to Mt. Rainier tomorrow, the view ought to be spectacular…

Shopping on the other hand was pleasant, got myself a TomTom GPS for the car I don’t own yet, but considering the newer map we retire our previous one for this trip and will hopefully get everywhere a bit easier. Amazing how much can change in two years…

The Holiday Inn is just as nice as the one before, the one bedroom suite is actually crowded with furniture. A two-seater that could work as another bed, two comfy chairs, one bench to rest your legs on, one side table, the bed, obviously, a couch table, a writing desk and an office chair. A sink, a microwave oven, a fridge/freezer mini combo…and a decent bathroom with a walk-in shower stall. Nice. Breakfast is complimentary, we’ll see. Applebee’s tonight…and then we collapse.
