Deja Vu all over again
by Nevok on Jun.10, 2009, under What's new at home
Having had a rather good appointment across the border in the Netherlands today, I will elaborate on that one sometime in the future, I started my cellphone while crossing the border to give Mel the good news.

Leave a Comment more...Insert Phoenix, Arizona themed song title here
by Nevok on Apr.24, 2009, under Next Exit: US of A
Would you believe that apparently there is no such thing as a song, at least easy to google, about Phoenix? I did find a song about Arizona by The Scorpions but, well, what can I say, a one night stand in a car is not quite what I want to have as a headline….
Hot……Dam….

Who would have thought, especially when coming here, I actually am sorry to see Vegas vanishing in the rear view mirror.
It has to be said written though, that after all, both Mel and I did succumb to the gambling virus in Vegas. Only difference between us is that Mel lost everything whereas I quit while I was ahead after having successfully doubled what I took with me on my gambling allowance!
Viva Las Vegas

I have to admit….Las Vegas is having a hard time winning me over.
First of all, the hotel…as cool and trendy as it might be, is not growing on me. It’s just too crowded, too loud, too..desperate to come across as hip? I dunno, but, maybe it is just too much in a way. Inasmuch as the idea is a nice one, the little parts in itself are nice, the big total though is just to blinky, glitzy, noisy for me. I do kinda prefer the MGM Grand from what I’ve seen outside of their rooms…and have to admit that the Bellagio IS rather nice from the inside. Especially the lobby area with the piano bar just outside of it. Maybe I am too old for the NY, NY? Or just too petty burgeois, who knows. And no, don’t comment on it, thank you.
In Sin City… Where the Lights are Bright

I was actually rather excited today, as today we’d volunteer for another half day at Best Friends. Incidentally (and heck no, there’s been no coincidence in that but rather meticulous planning from ‘lil ole me), we volunteered again with Balu and his gang (well, true, and Jenn, their caregiver).

…Bryce Canyon…
A quick sum-up: A big ‘Thank You’ goes out to my buddy Marc for telling me about this place. Soooo worthwhile…

Best Friends
Dogtown
It’s beautifully located here in Kanab, Utah, in Angel Canyon. What I didn’t know is that Kanab is kinda Utah’s little Hollywood. A lot of classic Westerns, both movies and series, were shot here. Some even in Angel Canyon.
Get Your Kicks On Route 66

Alright, about this trip today I can’t write that much. First the facts: We stopped at a trading post in Page, Arizona, and I got a really nice pendant for myself. It’s Zuni origin, the real thing, and a bear. It just gave me that ‘mine!’ vibe… what can I say.
Bury my Heart at Twisted Ankle

So, today was one of the great days. A whole day of Grand Canyon, South Rim, was ahead of us.
Although the last two days were kinda featuring a slight flurry of snow, which quickly melted away, we were not quite prepared for what we saw when opening the curtains this morning. There actually was a blanket of snow. Not one of those big, fluffy ones, but enough to leave us a bit concerned regarding our trip.
